Clear
Lake steams Jackets
ALVIN — The Clear Lake Falcons looked to continue
their winning ways while dealing with a
pesky Yellowjacket squad looking to play
spoiler. The tenacious Alvin team
counterpunched throughout the first
half, but the Falcons were able to salt
the game away, taking the 24-5A contest,
42-24.
The Yellowjackets moved the ball on
their initial possession, getting out to
midfield before the drive stalled. After
the punt, the Falcons needed only a few
plays before Drew Decker found Ronnie
Feaster on a
41-yard catch and run.
The offensive unit for the Jackets took
the ensuing possession and marched down
the field, chewing up the remainder of
the first quarter. The 12-play, 80-yard
drive was capped by Ashton Jefferson
scoring from 5 yards out, evening the
score 7-7.
Clear Lake needed only two plays to
surge back in front as Michael Grant
sliced through the Alvin defense for a
59-yard touchdown run. Feaster added
another score to extend the Falcon lead
to 21-7.
Alvin’s Jefferson found paydirt again
this time from 1 yard out to close the
gap. The ’Jackets were able to work with
a short field courtesy of a long kickoff
return by Chris Williams. Dalton Long
added a field goal as the first half
came to a close with Alvin down 21-17.
The second half saw the Falcons put the
game away as Decker, Grant and Joe Clark
added touchdowns on three consecutive
possessions to make the score 42-17.
Alvin’s Jefferson scored his third
touchdown of the night to end the
scoring.
