ALVIN — The Clear Lake Falcons looked to continue their winning ways while dealing with a pesky Yellowjacket squad looking to play spoiler. The tenacious Alvin team counterpunched throughout the first half, but the Falcons were able to salt the game away, taking the 24-5A contest, 42-24.

The Yellowjackets moved the ball on their initial possession, getting out to midfield before the drive stalled. After the punt, the Falcons needed only a few plays before Drew Decker found Ronnie Feaster on a

41-yard catch and run.

The offensive unit for the Jackets took the ensuing possession and marched down the field, chewing up the remainder of the first quarter. The 12-play, 80-yard drive was capped by Ashton Jefferson scoring from 5 yards out, evening the score 7-7.

Clear Lake needed only two plays to surge back in front as Michael Grant sliced through the Alvin defense for a 59-yard touchdown run. Feaster added another score to extend the Falcon lead to 21-7.

Alvin’s Jefferson found paydirt again this time from 1 yard out to close the gap. The ’Jackets were able to work with a short field courtesy of a long kickoff return by Chris Williams. Dalton Long added a field goal as the first half came to a close with Alvin down 21-17.

The second half saw the Falcons put the game away as Decker, Grant and Joe Clark added touchdowns on three consecutive possessions to make the score 42-17. Alvin’s Jefferson scored his third touchdown of the night to end the scoring.
