Workouts look good to coach

Pre-season practice is nearly over and now comes the trial
by opponent for Clear Lake's football team.
The Falcons have been going through their paces under the watchful eyes of head
coach Troy Aduddell and his staff.
So far, so good.
"Everything is going well. The weather has been great for practice and the kids
are in shape," said Aduddell.
Practice makes perfect and the coaching staff wants team 2003 to be as perfect
as possible.
The Falcons roll into action on Sept. 4, a Thursday game, when they travel to
take on Cypress Falls at Pridgeon Stadium. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m.
But Aduddell and his staff want the Falcons to aim for Oct. 10. That's when
District 24-5A action rolls around.
The offense has been having its drills on the practice field, while the defense
has been going through its paces.
It's the offense that is being revamped following the graduation of top
quarterback Michael Fritz.
(A more in-depth look at the Lake offense and defense will be in next week's The
Citizen Football Preview section.)
The defense looks very sold, and it should be with seven starters and nine
letterwinners returning.
So far the attitude is positive, according to Aduddell.
"They're taking to coaching very well," he said. "They have confidence.
Last year the Falcons went .500 at 5-5 for the season and narrowly missed the
cut for post-season with a 2-3 record.
The word in practice is "playoffs."
The beginning of the season is Friday when the Falcons play host to Katy Taylor
in District Stadium. Kick-off is 7 p.m.
