JV Falcons sink the  Bucanneers' ship

The JV dark won again this week as the faced off against the Brazoswood  Buccaneers.  The Bucks went for it on fourth and a half yard on their own 40 in the first drive of the game.  The Falcon defense stood the Bucks running back straight up and gave the ball to their offensive team to start their first drive in Buccaneer Bay.  With tough running from RB #23 Brandon Smith, the Falcons looked at a second and goal on the goal line.  Bumblin, rumbling FB #64 Jason Jameson took the ball into the end zone to give Lake the lead 7-0.

The next Buccaneer drive continued to add to the beating Brazoswood was to suffer. On a third and five, the Bucks were gang-tackled for a big loss forcing the punt.  The leader of that gang was #24 LB Cary Chiampi.

The Falcons took over with good field position on their second drive that took them 30 yards from the first down marker, but they got shut down with penalties.  K #1 Kyle Chism laid a beautiful punt to pin the Bucks back on their own 5 yard line.

The Bucks were again unable to move the ball and on a third and 9, #64 Jameson chased the QB out of the end zone as he threw the ball away.  The Lake "D" was standing very tough tonight.  Great tackles were coming from #40 David Vernon, #41 Luke Smith, and #42 Chase Chandler.

The next Lake drive was more running from QB #10 T.J. Jordan and #23 Brandon Smith.  But with a third and goal on the 7 yard line, the Falcons pulled out a reverse to WR #5 Dan Green who took the ball untouched into the end zone. With the help of the EP crew, Lake pulled ahead 14-0.

The Bucks drive was slowed to a stop with the assistance from #60 Jordan Barrett and the great play of #71 Jeff Wheeler chasing the QB out of the pocket and forcing him to get rid of the ball before receivers could get open.

The next Falcon drive featured runs and Lakes first short pass of the night from QB #10 T.J. Jordan to #86 TE Jeff Giesinger.  The half ended with Lake unable to put another score on the board.  But they had things under control as the defense was barely even bending for the Buccaneer offense.

The second half of the game was a running showdown between the teams and the Falcons began to cheer when #40 David Vernon blocked a buck punt and was picked up by #27 Mark Moran and run back to the Bucks 25 yard line.

This series had #5 Dan Green line up at QB taking a shotgun snap and running right for the first two plays.  Dan ran great across the field avoiding tackles, but was unable to find the gap he was looking for before the Bucks defense caught up to him.

After a blocked field goal, the Bucks carried that momentum all the way to the opposing end zone getting their first score of the night making the score 14-6.  On the next series the Lake offense continued to get the Bucks to move up to stop the run with solid running from #25 Darren Lindamood.  Having them stuff the box for the run, #86 Jeff Giesinger threw the ball over the top to a streaking #23 RB Brandon Smith who got underneath the ball and helped Lake ensure that the game was still theirs.  The game came to an end after a FG from #1 Kyle Chism to give Lake their second "W" in a row and looking forward to next week.
