Oswald, Clear Lake stomp Tomball 21-3

By STEVEN THOMSON

Tomball - Three short touchdown runs by quarterback Scott Oswald guided Clear Lake to a 21-3 victory over Tomball on Friday at Cougar Stadium.

Running the same option that led Clear Lake to the District 24-5A title last season, Oswald ran 22 times for 136 yards. He scored twice from two yards out and once from the 1-yard line.

Clear Lake's ball-control offense allowed it to overcome four turnovers.

Three of those miscues were fumbles, including one that Oswald lost into the Tomball end zone. It cost the Falcons a potential touchdown on their first series of the game.

Clear Lake held Tomball's offense to 197 total yards. The lone Cougar score was a 48-yard field goal by Shaun Runcie, which came with 2 minutes left in the first half.
