The first two plays from scrimmage by the Wolverines saw the teamwork of linebackers Trevor Riser and Eric Alsop stop the Brook halfbacks for consecutive losses. A third down pass on a quick slant to the wide-out was completed but brought down immediately by Worthen and Evan Beasley. Going for it on fourth and about 3 Brook was able to work for the first down in spite of a hard hit by strong safety Spencer Hayes. On first down, Brook ran a counter for 10 before free safety Michael Grant and defensive tackle Michael Casavecchia brought him down. A run off left tackle gained 3 with Casavecchia again on the tackle assisted by Trevor Riser and Tyler David. On 2nd and 7 the Brook QB rolled right and took the ball to the 13 yards before Nick Adams, Eric Alsop, Michael Grant brought him down. A first down sweep was stopped by Worthen for a 1 yard gain. A second down pass completion splitting the seams took the ball to the Lake 16 with Riser making the stop. Trevor riser stopped Brooks at the line for little gain on 1st down, and Riser and Daniel Moore combine to stop the 2nd down play for a couple of yards, bringing up a 3rd and 6. The third down pass fell incomplete with cornerback Jake Runte on the coverage. On 4th and 6, strong safety Tyler David read pass and timed it perfectly to intercept at the 10 yard line stopping the drive.

The Falcons started with a dive up the middle to Knight for a couple followed by a Decker keep on the option for 8 and a first down. Keeping again Decker grabbed 5 more yards as the first quarter ended with no score.

To start the 2nd quarter, Decker handed to Worthen for 5 more and a first down. On first down Decker dropped back to pass and was blindsided as he started to throw allowing the ball to fall in the hands of a Clear Brook cornerback who ran it into the end zone for the games first score. The extra point was good for a 7-0 lead.

Michael Grant took the kickoff from the 10 up to the 36 yard line where Lake again set up shop. Kyle Power in at fullback gained 2, followed with 3 more from Grant. A third down draw to Grant was stopped for no gain, bringing up a fourth and 5 forcing Lake to punt. Tyler David downed the punt at the Brook 23.

On the third and long play the Brook QB dropped back to pass and was hit by Michael Grant as he released the ball forcing it to fall incomplete, bringing up 4th and long. On first and goal from the 4, Runte keeping on the option was knocked for a 3 yard loss. With Drew Decker back in at QB, a pitch on the option to Grant was stopped after a 1 yard gain. A procedure penalty pushed the ball back 5 making it 3rd and goal from the 11. A third down run by Decker on the option picked up 4 bringing up a fourth an goal from the 7. With time running out in the half, Michael Grant attempted a halfback pass into the end zone to a wide open Tyler David. Grant was hit as he threw the pass allowing the ball to hang in the air long enough for the Brook defenders to catch up to David, knocking the pass away for a incompletion turning the ball over to Brook on downs.

Brook elected to take a knee to allow the clock to run out in the 1st half with the a 7-0 lead.

The Falcons kicked off to start the second half. The kickoff by Crouch went to the Brook 30 and was returned 10yards with Grant making the hit at the 40. Going for it on fourth down, defensive tackle Nick Adams stopped a Wolverine halfback at the line for no gain giving the Falcons the ball.

Decker kept the ball on back to back carries of 5 and 15 yards. Power gained 5 powering up the middle followed by Nathan Knight on the same play tacking on 1 more. Decker keeping on the option again took the ball behind his offensive line to gain 12. Consecutive procedure penalties cost CL 10 yards on first down, making it first and twenty. Moving the wrong direction Hayes was hit behind the line for an additional loss of six. Knight picked those six back up on a blast up the middle. Cody Worthen was hit at the line for no gain, putting the Falcons in another punting situation. A long 42 yard punt by Crouch was downed by Tyler David.

The first play of the 3rd quarter saw Daniel Moore sniff out a reverse and drop the Brook runner for a 3 yard loss. Feeling the defensive pressure, the Wolverines elected to quick kick on third down successfully getting the ball down across midfield to the Lake 37. On first down Kyle Powers took a hand off up the middle for a strong 11 yard gain. The next play saw QB Drew Decker scamper 37 yards down to the Brook 15. Two more keepers by Decker, picking up 8 followed by 7 earned him CL’s first score of the game. The 2 point conversion try was no good, making the score 7-6 Brook.

Clear Lake attempted an on-side kick to the right side. Cody Worthen made a hard hit on the up-man but he was able to hang on to the ball setting them up at the 45 yard line. On first down Brook tried to sweep around the end but ran into Trevor Riser for a minimal gain. Austin Kirby stuck it to them on the second down play over left tackle allowing only a couple more yards. An incomplete pass on 3rd down with Runte on the coverage forced Brook to punt on fourth down. Another good punt put the ball on the CL 17.

On first down Decker gave to Knight up the middle for 2, followed by a pitch to Grant for 1 more. On 3rd and 7 Decker pitched out to Worthen going left and made a big run picking up the crucial first down. Another good run by Knight gained 6 on first down. A pitch right to Grant gained 16 more on another good run. With everyone watching the clock as it was running down in the game, the offense stepped it up a notch. A breakaway run by Hayes down to the 5 yard line was called back because of a holding call, negating a great 36 yard run by Spencer. Still first down, Grant carried for 9 yards, with an unnecessary penalty by Brook allowing CL another 1st down. On yet another first down play Worthen picked up 1 on the option pitch, followed by a one yard loss on the QB keeper. On third and ten Michael Grant weaved his way on an awesome run thru the Brook defense into the end zone for the go ahead touchdown. Going for 2 Decker kept the ball on the option and took it in for the 2, making the score 14-7 Lake, with 2:18 left on the clock.

CL’s kick went down to the 20 but was brought back to the 40 before Decker and Riser made the stop. An incomplete pass on first down was followed by the Brook QB scrambling in the backfield and around left end for 8 yards with Grant on the stop. On third down a pitch to the halfback gained 10 more, again being dropped by Grant. With the ball on the CL 40 yard line and a first down, and the clock winding down, the Brook QB again scrambled behind the line trying to find an opening, but Hayes, Riser, and Alsop wouldn’t allow it as they decked him after only gaining 2 on the play. With very little time on the clock, the Brook QB dropped back and threw a long pass down the right sideline where Falcon cornerback Jake Runte had played it perfectly picking off the pass to seal the game for Lake.

The Falcons took a knee to run out the clock.
