Banquet to be
Discussed at Oct 1 Booster Meeting
Be There or Be Square
September 28, 2001
There will be lots to discuss at the
Booster Club meeting at 7:00 on Monday, October 1 in the Clear Lake Commons. President
Gordon Gamble has resigned his postition, and there are many outstanding issues to be
examined. For one thing, there is a good deal of opinion about the Football Banquet at the
end of the season.
The Falcons Webmaster received the
following message this morning:
I have just reviewed the minutes from the last meeting. I cannot believe
that the Booster Club, funded by all members of Lake's various football families, would
limit the banquet to only varsity players. I have hotdog dinners for my little league
baseball team. These young men deserve more than that. If funds for the banquet come from
some source other than the Booster Club, than please advise the football families. If this
banquet is funded by all of us then we all should be there.
My family and my company support the Booster Club financially every year.
We do this to help our High School Football Program...all of them, not just the Varsity.
If my understanding of the mission of the Booster Club is incorrect then please publish it
on the web site. There are several of us non-varsity families that apparently
misunderstood what has been stated at the kick-off meetings that we have attended
the last several years.
I forwarded the message to Mike Nemer, the Vice President of the Booster
club, and he got back with me immediately:
I very much understand your concern. I myself was very upset to hear the
plan. After voicing my concern to the coach, he has approved us having a banquet for the
JV and Freshmen teams. So this year there will be two banquets. This Monday night we have
a very important Booster Club meeting. Your attendence would very much be appreciated.
There was a good deal of discussion of the Banquet plans at the last
meeting, and the general sense of the group was that two Banquets would be the way to go.
Many of the parents remarked that having all the boys and their families at one large
banquet made the proceedings carry on for to long a time.
I believe that this will be one of the major topics of discussion at next
Mondays meeting. The officers and committee chairs are looking for a large turnout at the
meeting on October 1.
