Lake v. Baytown Lee
Tough Team Prepares Lake for District Play
September 21, 2001

After a rain postponement on Friday night, the Clear Lake Falcons took on the Baytown Lee Ganders on Saturday night at Pasadena Memorial Stadium. For the second week in a row, the Falcon's faced one of the top teams in the area, and arguably one of the top offences, and again came up short.

As the first half progressed, it was apparent that the young Lake defense was developing rapidly as they faced a formidable Baytown passing attack.

With big stops by David Perkins and Azzie Beagnyam, Baytown was forced to punt from their own territory giving the Falcon's good field position.

Lake was again on a roll and the tide seemed to be turning. After strong runs by Scott, Lake was moving into position for a score that would have completely changed the complexion of the game. Howard hit Scott at the Baytown 20, but the completion was negated by a penalty. Lake was backed out of scoring range.

The purpose of non-district play is to allow the team to develop for the district games. It is clear that this objective has been met. The Falcon defense has been cutting their teeth on two of the best offenses in the area, and has developed significantly.

The offense is ready to make things happen behind the running of Stephen Scott and Brian Howard, with Howard also leading the air attack.
