Clear Brook Wolverines fall Victim to the Falcon feeding frenzy

by Raymond Aronoff

Freshmen White. Late in the 3rd Quarter the falcon white team wore the Clear Brook team down by pounding the ball at the defense with Quarterback options and tailback left and right.

After a critical third down run by #7 Dexter, the Quarterback of the freshman white took a mean blow by Clear Brook. This took Dexter out of the game for a moment.

That moment was all that Bart Cradeer, back up QB #11 needed to put 6 points on the board with a pass to Cody Bartrow #4.

With very little time on the clock, Brook knew they needed some field position to have a chance at tying the game. Those visions of grandeur were quickly removed when #21 Shea Jackson cruised all the way across the field to make a critical tackle on the return man.

At this point the air was officially taken out of the Brook sails.

Freshmen Blue. The attitude of the Freshman blue falcons as they took the field was light and care-free. After coming off of their homecoming weekend, the spirits were still high and the boys were full of confidence and fun stories.

The Alvin game also showed signs that the Clear Lake Freshman coaching staff was ready to open up the offense with the passing attack of Quarterback T.J. Jordan (#14).

But the brook team entered the slightly damp field, they had one thing on their mind, stopping Lake.

The first quarter appeared to be creating another typical highlight film for the Freshmen Falcons; solid defense and the steady running attack of Devin Williams.

The visiting Falcon fans were on their feet to see Elrick Jones tear down the sideline for another special teams touch down, only to realize there was a yellow hanky back at midfield.

Although Clear Lake was able to move the ball down the field with consistent sideline to sideline running by Devin Williams and a pass from T.J. Jordan to Dan Green for 17 yards; the falcons were not able to get on the board.

After another great defensive stand by Clear Lake, Elrick did it again; and this time the only flags seen were the red white and blue ones waving on poles toward the north end of the field. Falcons went up 6-0.

The rest of the first half was more of the same. Great hitting by Ryan Nisbet, playing for the injured Ryan Johnson, and great defensive plays by Matt Young and Daniel McCalib combined with a solid defensive line showed Brook that it was going to take better than an average offense to score on this fearsome Falcons defense.

The second half started up with each team struggling to move the ball offensively.

On the Falcons third drive of the game, T.J. handed the ball off to Jamie McMurchy on a full back blast. Jamie made it through the line un-touched and from there it was a foot race with the Brook safety. Jamie was not going to be denied having the identical touchdown play, the week before, called back on a penalty.

On the next Falcon drive, T.J. Jordan found Scott Oswald streaking down the left side and a step ahead of the Brook corner. The ball fell gracefully into Scott's hands and again the footrace to the end-zone was won by the Falcons. That would prove to be the last touchdown of the game. Falcons win 18-0.

The Falcons are now 5 and 0 with a lot of talent still to be discovered on this freshman squad.
