Clear Lake Freshman teams continue to
roll On Thursday against Baytown Lee, the Freshman White took control in the second half to bring home the 21-12 win. With the Cody Bartrow (#5) interception, Clear Lake went up 12-8. From there Adam Wolf let Baytown Lee wish they never made the trip. Adam not only ran for a 31 yard TD; but on the ensuing kickoff he sealed the deal with a crushing blow to the Baytown return man. The Freshman Blue kept that hard hitting defensive momentum alive. The freshman dark team showed some good signs of progression, running the ball well with Devin Williams. After moving the ball down the field by foot, T.J. Jordan was picked off trying to get rid of the ball as the Baytown Lee defenders were whipping him around by his Jersey. On the next possession, the Falcon defense showed their ability to not only defend their goal but to score on their opponents as well. On an errant lateral pass, Daniel McCalib (#23) picked up the ball and got the games first score. With an easy extra point by Scott Oswald, the Falcons were on the board 7 to nothing. The defense kept the pressure up the entire first half with sacks from Elrick Jones and Jamie McMurchy. Hard hitting from the defense and the ground attack from Devin Williams kept the Falcons moving for the remainder of the first half. However, turnovers caused the Falcons to put their additional scores on hold until the second half. Due to lightning in the area, the game was called at half time. After the game, the Falcons were still pumped up and wanted to get back on the field. Although the offense never got to try to re-establish their momentum, this game showed the Falcon coaches and teammates that defense can win games. Great Job Falcons!!! |
