Falcon's  putting the pieces together
Lake 14  Alvin 28

The Falcon's came out ready to play on Friday night. On the opening drive, the offense was unstoppable. They drove the distance carried by the hard running of Brian Howard and Stephen Scott. The opening drive consumed over 9 minutes of the first quarter and Clear Lake had an early 7-0 lead.

The second quarter started off just like the first, with strong running by Scott and Howard, with Howard also hitting Matt Groves 15 yards on a pass.

The offense was off to the races before an unfortunate turnover. But, not to worry, on the next series, Marshall Priest came up big with a deep interception giving the ball back to Lake. Howard began to carry the load again, with runs of 8, 10 and 25 yards, but ultimately had to turn the ball over on downs.

After another Alvin score, Lake was down 14-7 before the half, but a big pass play for 45 yards to Groves put Lake in position to tie things up going into the half. Time ran out before Lake could put the pigskin in the end zone.

Lake responded with a pass to Warren Cormier for 10, and 25 off an option pitch to Scott. Behind the offensive line of Brown, Niemczak, Taylor, Hewer, and Senviel, Howard carried

it the rest of the way for the score to put Lake within striking distance at 21-14. Another Alvin score put Lake further behind 28-14. Lake's offense continued to have success between the 10's, but couldn't get the ball into the end zone.

Lake finished the night with more than 400 yards of total offense, but with not enough points to secure the win.

Although behind most of the game, the Falcon's fought back hard with victory seeming inevitable, but then time ran out.

The 2001 Falcon's are putting the pieces together and growing as a team every week. With the determination shown last week, the Falcon's are poised to turn the corner.
